Ivona Gita. Ring. September 10th , 2017.
Mens wedding bands are most often wider than wedding rings for women. Since men generally have larger hands, proportionally men want larger rings. Mens wedding rings also tend to be heavier, wider and sometimes even chunkier. In context to width, a mens wedding band generally ranges from 5mm to 8mm wide. Typically, men do not choose under 5mm for their wedding rings with perhaps the exception of classic comfort fit wedding bands. Men do not go much over 8mm width even if they have large hands. This perimeter is not iron clad of course, but rather based upon what I've noticed selling rings to men over the past twenty plus years.
In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, the Italians used betrothal rings, which were generally of silver, inlaid with niello. The bezel was oval or circular, and the shoulders of the hoop formed sleeves from which issued hands that clasped.
Rubies are very popular for jewellery or as loose gemstones and can be mined from many regions in the world, but in the main, the most plentiful supply is in Asia and Africa. The pigeon blood red rubies are the most valuable because of the deepness of the colour and the few mark and blemishes they have. These rubies are most commonly found in Myanmar (Burma).
Maybe your bride-to-be loves history and has a soft spot for old things. The right choice then would be an antique engagement ring or a vintage engagement ring. These rings will take her back to the timeless and romantic decades between 1910 to 1940. They whisper of romantic getaways and beauty that will last forever. These are a little on the higher side as they are considered treasures. Many of these rings cost anywhere from $1000 dollars and upwards. If your sweetheart is not a lover of all things antique but does appreciate the design that goes into jewelry of this kind, why not settle for a vintage style engagement ring or an antique style engagement ring. Some of these designs include the halo design, the pave setting, the Milgrain design and the side setting. Lets look at each of these in detail. With the halo design there will be a central stone surrounded by little diamonds, giving the look of a halo. The pave settings are similar to the pavement but much more romantic. The diamonds are closely set together, leading towards the central diamond. The Milgrain design gives off more of an antique look because of its beaded quality. Last but not least is the side setting design. This has the diamonds detailed very intricately on the side giving the beautiful effect of a timeless finish.
